NICHOLAS KATRIS

The owner, Nicholas Katris, has a very diverse background stretching from a number of industries and sports.

From an early age, he has played and participated in a number of sports. Two of which he has participated significantly include: athletics (track and field)- competing at a state level and travelling to the USA to compete, and rugby union- at a schoolboy level, touring countries such as New Zealand and UK. The passion for the gym was also present during the high school years, with resistance training 4-5 times a week. This set the health and fitness trend for the years to come.

Nicholas commenced the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2003 at The University of Sydney with the prospect of working as a pharmacist in the community. He graduated in 2006 and embarked on his professional career in the healthcare industry. Synchronically, he maintained his love for fitness through martial arts, particularly Kyokushin Karate – learning lifelong skills and techniques whilst keeping fit and healthy.

After a trip to Rama IV stadium, Bangkok, Thailand, he became familiar with kickboxing and Thai boxing (Muay Thai) which spurred the decision to commence Taekwondo – of which he progressed rapidly to Black Belt level (World Taekwondo Federation ‘Kukkiwon’ registered) under the teaching of Martin Hall (World re-known Taekwondo Grand Master and Australian Olympic Team coach).

Inspired and fascinated by the mental toughness of Taekwondo, Nicholas commenced Japanese Jiu-jitsu and ninjitsu, learning the techniques of the Japanese Samurai and Ninja, thus consolidating the martial arts mindset acquired through years of training.

Currently, Nicholas practices Taekwondo (WTF) as a martial artist and also as a pharmacist, actively involved in the healthcare setting. He also actively participates in resistance training at the local gym and supports his brother Damien in his professional INBA (International Natural Bodybuilding Association) championships as an assistant trainer, at a state, national and international level. This has given Nicholas the opportunities to travel around Australia and even the world at the various championships, providing him with additional experience and expertise in competition.

In fact, in 2014, Nicholas was fortunate enough to travel with his brother Damien, and the Australian team to the INBA World Championships in Nitra, Slovakia – with Damien placing 4th in the World and thus Nicholas gaining experience at an international level.

What makes Nicholas different as a trainer?

What makes Nicholas and Fusion Fitness Solutions different to other trainers and fitness businesses is the amalgamation of fitness with the pharmaceutical and medicinal component of an individual’s health. This therefore creates an holistic approach and is the ultimate ‘fusion’ in health and fitness. Nicholas’ vast knowledge about medications and complementary medicines through his pharmacy background adds another dimension to personal training.

Nicholas understands the importance and the roles that prescription and non-prescription/complementary medicines have on his client’s fitness level and fitness and health goals. The intimate relationship between personal training and pharmacy, combined with the qualities of martial arts, is utilised on a client basis. Thus, Fusion Fitness Solutions provides a ‘one-stop-shop’ for the client’s fitness and health needs.
